The Visa on Arrival is the default choice for most visitors coming to Bali for a holiday. You pay a government fee of roughly $35–40 when you land — or pre-approve the same visa online as an e-VoA — and receive a 30-day stay. If you want longer, the VoA can be extended one time for another 30 days, giving you about 60 days in total. It does not permit work for Indonesian employers; it is intended for tourism, family visits and business meetings.

Who can use the Visa on Arrival

The VoA is open to passport holders from a wide list of countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and most of the European Union. If your nationality is not on the eligible list, you will usually need a different route such as the B211A visit visa. When you are unsure, send us your passport country on WhatsApp and we will confirm in minutes.

Apply at the airport or online (e-VoA)

You can buy the VoA at the immigration counter when you arrive, or apply for the electronic version (e-VoA) through the official portal before you fly. The e-VoA pre-approves your entry, which can mean shorter queues at the airport. The cost is broadly the same; the e-VoA adds small card and currency-conversion fees.

Extending your stay

The VoA extension is handled at a local immigration office or through an agent. Start the process several days before your first 30 days run out — extensions are not instant. After this single extension, the VoA cannot be renewed again; for longer stays you would switch to a B211A visit visa or a long-stay permit.

Honest costs

The government fee is the fixed part — around $35–40, last verified June 2026. On top of that, many travellers pay an agent $40–80 to handle the extension paperwork and a visa run to the office. We separate the official fee from agent service ranges so there are no surprises.

What you’ll need

  • Passport valid at least 6 months from arrival
  • Proof of onward or return travel
  • Accommodation details for your stay
  • Payment for the government fee (card or cash on arrival)
  • A passport with at least one blank page
Frequently Asked

Common questions

Short, honest answers. Still unsure? Our concierge replies personally on WhatsApp.

How long can I stay on a Visa on Arrival?

30 days to start, extendable once for another 30 days — about 60 days in total.

Can I work on a VoA?

No. The VoA is for tourism, family visits and business meetings. Paid local work is not allowed; remote work for a foreign employer is a separate question best handled on a visit visa.

Is the e-VoA better than buying at the airport?

The e-VoA pre-approves you before travel and can reduce airport queues. The cost is similar, with small card and FX fees added online.

How much does it cost?

The government fee is about $35–40 USD (last verified June 2026). An optional agent for the extension typically runs $40–80.
